Guidelines

Your face does not need to be in frame. The drawing will be from the neck down.

No, you do not have to be nude! I will never question or judge how much you choose to cover, or pressure you to get further out of your comfort zone. Please respect your own boundaries.

Tie your hair up. Loose hair will hide your silhouette, and only drawing hair outline creates odd shapes.

Make sure the photo is clear – enough for me to see details, especially if there are hands or feet in the photo, I need those to be very clear!

Get things out of the way – Laying on something soft like a bed with blankets will cut part of your silhouette. Unless it is intentional, hard surfaces like a floor is preferable.

Cropping may occur! Note that your drawing will be on a 12×16 inch canvas, so if the dimensions of your photo are not matching, I will have to crop accordingly.
Full body shots will typically be cropped from neck to knee so that your silhouette is taking some space on the canvas, unless you specify you want the entire shot!

I assure you that your photo will remain confidential and will be deleted once the drawing is complete.

Taking Your Photo

For those who want the fully experience and sensual self-portraiture session…

You can use your camera timer, or a remote if you have one, ask someone else to take the photo, or my favourite, just film yourself!

Put some music on, close your eyes, slowly move, dance and feel yourself in front of the camera. Feel everything you need to feel, it’s all part of the process.

Once you’re done, scroll through your video and screenshot what you like. This requires good lighting!

You can try different angles. Set the camera lower or higher. Make this a fun experience for yourself. No one is watching or judging you!

Need Extra Help?

If you need some extra help…

You can grab my exclusive short course (normally $59, discounted to $19 for event attendees), which will teach you all the basics you need to know about posing. It’s a video course, so you’ll get plenty of guidance from me on how to take the best possible photos using your phone!

FAQ

What happens if I can’t send my photo on time?

If no photo or communication is sent within the allocated timeframe, a generic portrait will be drawn, and a re-draw fee will apply if you still want a custom portrait.

Of course, life gets in the way sometimes. If you believe you won’t be able to send your photo on time, please get in touch within the timeframe to let me know and we can set an alternative date.

Why is the cutoff time to submit photo so strict, even if my event is in a month?

Absolutely! No pressure, but you can also get a second portrait with a great discount at the event, including all the material to complete at home. Just ask via text when sending your photo!

Who is going to see my photo?

Sab is the only person who will ever view your original photo. Once your drawing is completed, the photo will be deleted.

I can’t pick one photo! Can I send a few ones so you can help me?

Absolutely! TheDIY kits, custom paint by numbers kits, andcouples kitsare all personalised based on your own spicy selfie, or any silhouette you would like to paint.

What if I need to cancel?

A lot of the work happens behind the scenes in the lead-up to your event, including the time spent hand-drawing your portrait. For this reason, once your portrait has been created, no rescheduling, exchanges, credits, or refunds aren’t available. In some cases, partial refunds may be available if a cancellation is made 2 weeks prior to an event and if the ticket amount was greater than the value of a DIY kit.

If you’re unable to attend, you can still receive your portrait along with your paint and brushes to complete at home.

Please note that while I’m on tour, I live and work from my van with very limited space. Because of this, I’m unable to store portraits after the event, and I also have limited packaging available for shipping. Your portrait and materials will need to be collected from the venue, or picked up by a friend who is attending on your behalf.
While venues do their best to assist, not all venues have the capacity to handle or store them with extra care. For this reason, I cannot take responsibility for any damage or loss once portraits have been left at the venue and recommend picking up as soon as possible.

Can I send a breastfeeding/birth photo?

While pregnancy photos are absolutely welcomed, I kindly ask that breastfeeding/crowning photos are not submitted for portrait outlines for events. I completely honour and celebrate breastfeeding, birth, and the power of the female body, but try to keep the event portraits focussed on the women themselves, and not so much on caregiving roles that can define us on the outside. This is simply to help keep the space as trigger free as possible and stay aligned with the style of portraits I create.

If you’d still love to include your postpartum body, you are more than welcome to send a non-breastfeeding photo that still reflects this season of your life. You are also welcome to order a breastfeeding portrait for a home kit.

Can I bring my baby?

Babies in arms may be welcome at some venues, however toddlers are not permitted. Please also be mindful that many women attend PYP as a chance to have time for themselves. If you do bring your baby, we kindly ask that you come in after the meditation and sharing circle and that you’re prepared to step outside if they become unsettled, so we can keep the space calm and supportive for everyone. Note that there may also be loud music during the some parts of the event and people singing along.
